At a recent press conference, Zheenbek Kulubaev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, stated that 2025 has become a time of intense diplomatic activity. Under the leadership of President Sadyr Japarov, the country has adhered to a pragmatic and multi-vector approach, which has contributed to strengthening ties both with neighboring Central Asian states and with partners beyond the region. One of the most significant achievements of the year he mentioned was the successful resolution of issues related to the state border, which has become an important step towards ensuring national security.
The dynamics of foreign policy activity is confirmed by statistical data: in 2025, President Japarov made 25 foreign trips, three of which were official and state visits. According to the minister, the number of meetings at bilateral and multilateral levels has significantly increased, totaling about 190, of which 130 took place outside Kyrgyzstan. Relations with Beijing have particularly intensified — after two visits by the president to China, 33 new agreements were signed, elevating cooperation to a new strategic level. There has also been a qualitative growth in dialogue with Mongolia, with which Kyrgyzstan has established a comprehensive partnership.
In 2025, Kyrgyzstan actively worked on the international stage, combining its presidency in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). The country also began to fulfill its role as chair in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). In 2026, the ministry plans to focus on developing economic diplomacy and protecting the interests of citizens abroad, while maintaining a constructive dialogue with all major global players.
