The Speaker of the Parliament proposed to extend the visa-free regime between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.

During the official visit to Turkey, the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, held a meeting with Numan Kurtulmuş, the head of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

According to the press service of the parliament, the first meeting took place in a narrow circle, after which the negotiations continued in an expanded format.

The main focus of the meeting was on the development of political, economic, and cultural ties, particularly inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Turgunbek uulu emphasized the significance of the upcoming visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Kyrgyzstan in 2024, which will mark an important milestone in the strategic partnership between the two countries. He also noted that the strong friendly relations between Sadyr Japarov and Erdoğan create a solid foundation for further cooperation.

The Speaker discussed the need to strengthen inter-parliamentary dialogue, calling for the activation of contacts between relevant committees and friendship groups.

He also reminded of the task set to increase the trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey to 5 billion US dollars and invited Turkish businessmen to invest in key sectors such as energy, mining, and others.

Another initiative proposed by Turgunbek uulu was to extend the visa-free entry period between the two countries from 90 to 180 days. He also noted that this year Kyrgyzstan would be pleased to welcome athletes and official representatives from Turkey at the VI World Nomad Games.

In the field of education, the Speaker expressed confidence that the cooperation between the two countries serves as an example for others. He cited the "Manas" University as an example, noting that in the future it could be among the top 500 universities in the world.

Kurtulmuş, in turn, emphasized Turkey's interest in further cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in all areas. He added that the development of joint projects in healthcare and education is a priority for both countries.
