The death of a 21-year-old girl, which occurred on February 19 in the Nookat district, raises many questions. Relatives believe that the cause of the tragedy could have been violence from her husband, despite the official version stating it was a suicide.
Ainazik Zhyldyzbek kyzy, the sister of the deceased A.A., told a Turmush correspondent about facts that cast doubt on the official investigation. According to her, A.A. got married a year ago and had already faced violence from her husband, even during their stay in Moscow. “She was pregnant and very happy. Just a day before the tragedy, she told me that she was expecting a child. Her first pregnancy ended sadly — the baby's heart stopped, so this current pregnancy was especially desired for her. She would not have been able to take such a step,” Ainazik stated.
According to her account, a few hours before her death, the girl sent a message to her mother asking for help: “Get me out of here, your son-in-law is beating me...”. However, her mother did not see it in time due to preparations for ooz achuu (the breaking of the fast in the holy month of Orozо).
Relatives learned of the tragedy only on the morning of February 20. They were informed that the girl had “fallen ill,” but upon arriving at the scene, they found her dead. The family claims that there were visible bruises on her back and in the kidney area.
At the time of the incident, the mother-in-law, husband, and two sisters-in-law were in the house. The deceased's relatives believe that they are hiding the true circumstances of what happened and are trying to cover up the case with the help of elders. “We sent the body to Osh for an examination. We were told that the results would only be ready in a month, and until then, they cannot hold the body. We insist on a fair investigation,” Zhyldyzbek kyzy added.
The press service of the Osh region police confirmed that a preliminary investigation has been initiated.
According to the police, a report about the incident was received via 112 on February 20, 2026, when it became known that a resident of the village of Kok-Bel in the Nookat district, A.A., born in 2005, was found hanged in the barn of her home.
The case has been registered, and a forensic medical examination has been appointed to determine the exact cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
