Baktybek Karabalaev, the brother of the deceased, contacted the Turmush publication with a statement that the investigative authorities are not conducting a proper investigation.
“My sister got married 10 years ago; her husband is a police officer, and they have three children: the eldest is 7 years old, the second is 4 years old, and the youngest is 10 months. They are currently under the care of their grandmother,” he explained.
The tragic incident occurred on November 4. Prior to this, the woman had a conflict with her husband and had been living with her parents for about two months. On October 28, her son-in-law took her back home. A week later, we received news of her death. Initially, her parents were told that she had fallen ill and was hospitalized. When they arrived in Kerben, they were told to go back, and later they were informed of her death.
Relatives learned that Gülmeerim was found with signs of hanging, noticing rope marks on her neck during the preparations for burial. Also, one of her earrings was missing, while the other was broken and embedded in her body. The circumstances under which she allegedly died in the morning and was buried the same day around 4:00 PM raise doubts for us.
In this regard, we filed a statement with the police demanding to clarify the true causes of my sister's death. We even insisted on an exhumation and forensic examination, but the investigator took no action. Therefore, we turned to the GKNB office in the Jalal-Abad region. We demand an objective investigation and accountability for those responsible,” noted B. Karabalaev.
Gülmeerim Karabalaeva was the youngest of three children and the only daughter in her family.
Later, a Turmush correspondent contacted the Internal Affairs Department of the Jalal-Abad region, where they were informed that the case is being investigated by the prosecutor's office, and therefore the information cannot be disclosed.
