Caves have been discovered in Uzgen that served as excavation sites over 1000 years ago.

History researcher Ismail Salimov reported that these caves contain significant deposits of minerals. At a depth of 80 meters, there are passages wide enough for a person to move freely. During the Soviet period, similar caves were found on several streets in Uzgen, and it was decided to fill them in.

Caves were also discovered in the village of Kenesh, where the length of the passages reached 1 kilometer. "People did not dare to continue further, fearing for their lives. The entrance to one of the caves resembles the entrance to a yurt, and on the stone above, it is engraved 'Bismillahi rakhmani rakhheem.' Inside, there are seven small passages. Uzgen has many such mysterious places," he shared.

Salimov noted that in the IX-X centuries, the Khitans and Karakhanids ruled in Uzgen. "There is a possibility that treasures with gold, left from those times, are hidden in these caves. Previously, a group of historians and representatives from the Ministry of Culture came from Bishkek and reported that significant financial investments would be required for archaeological excavations," he added.
