During his working visit to China, the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, Talaybek Ibraev, met with the leadership of one of the leading Chinese companies — Kaifa (Shenzhen Kaifa Technology). The result of this meeting was a contract for the supply of 300,000 smart meters, scheduled for 2026. The conditions for acquiring an additional 90,000 meters are also being discussed, as reported by the Ministry of Energy.
It is important to note that the implementation of the automated system for monitoring and accounting of electricity (ASKUE) has significantly contributed to improving financial discipline in the energy sector.
According to information from the Ministry of Energy, by the end of 2025, 500,100 smart meters will be installed in the country, and the total number of devices implemented by JSC "NESC" will exceed 923,000.
Moreover, during the implementation of smart meters, the number of employees was optimized by 415 people, which allowed saving 291.2 million soms on salaries. Thus, the profit of JSC "NESC" has increased, and the burden on the state budget has decreased, emphasizes the Ministry of Energy.
The project is being implemented with the support of the World Bank and aims to modernize the energy sector, which includes accurate real-time accounting of electricity and reducing losses.
Advantages of smart meters noted by the Ministry of Energy:
- Automatic data transmission: Meter readings are sent to the server in real-time, eliminating the need for inspectors to visit homes.
- Remote control: In case of debt or payment, the electricity supply can be turned off or on remotely.
- Saving and monitoring: Consumers have the opportunity to monitor their electricity consumption in real-time and find ways to save.
- Increased safety and quality: Meters protect against overloads, instantly signal external interference, and enhance voltage stability.
- Minimization of human factor: Smart meters reduce the likelihood of errors in manual data entry and lower the risks of theft.
The record "The National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan will install 300,000 smart meters" was first published on the K-News website.
