The Solar Astronomy Laboratory reported the registration of the most powerful solar flare since September 28, reaching a level of M5.0.
Solar flares are classified by the intensity of their X-ray emissions from level A (the lowest) to X (the highest). This classification helps assess the potential impact on Earth.
The maximum activity was recorded at 13:11 Moscow time. It is worth noting that a flare of level M6.4 was observed at the end of September.
The center of solar activity is shifted away from Earth, which reduces the likelihood of direct solar emissions affecting our planet. The interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS was able to safely pass through these emissions.
Scientists noted: "We expected an increase in flare activity, and it seems we are at the very beginning of this process. Since mid-October, it has become clear that there are at least two major active centers on the far side of the Sun heading towards Earth."
In the coming days, astrophysicists predict further growth in solar activity and its potential impact on our planet.
