The population of Tajikistan has increased by a quarter over the last 10 years

In his annual address to the Parliament of Tajikistan, President Emomali Rahmon announced that the country's population has increased by 26% and now stands at 10.7 million people. This data was presented as part of a report on the implementation of two short-term programs carried out over the past ten years, which are related to the National Development Strategy until 2030 aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens and achieving strategic goals.

As a result of these efforts, the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has increased 3.4 times, and the average annual economic growth rate has reached 7.6%. During this period, GDP per capita rose from 6,000 to 16,100 somoni ($653 - $1752), and the poverty rate decreased to 19%.

“Since 2015, when the population was 8.5 million, we have reached 10.7 million in 2025, which is an increase of 26%. The life expectancy indicator has also increased: the average life expectancy rose from 70 to 77 years,” added President Rahmon.
