On the social network X, Randy Fine stated: “This bill will give the president the ability to find funds for the annexation of Greenland.” He also emphasized that “our enemies are trying to strengthen their positions in the Arctic, and we cannot allow that,” referring to the rhetoric of the president's administration. Fine added in a press release published by The Hill that “control over Greenland ensures control over vital sea routes in the Arctic and the security architecture that protects the interests of the United States.” The bill grants U.S. President Donald Trump the authority “to take the necessary measures to acquire Greenland as a territory of the country,” including the possibility of annexation. At the time of publication, it was unclear whether the lower chamber would consider this bill. Previously, Donald Trump had repeatedly raised concerns about threats from Russia and China, arguing for the necessity of acquiring Greenland. However, as reported by the Financial Times, diplomats from Northern Europe do not confirm his claims about the presence of Russian and Chinese vessels near the island.
