
In her letter, Frederiksen urged the United States to refrain from threats towards Greenland. She noted that discussing the possibility of seizing the island is "absolutely meaningless." "The U.S. has no right to annex any of the countries that are part of the Kingdom of Denmark," she emphasized.
The Prime Minister added that Greenland and its residents have clearly expressed their unwillingness to sell and called on Washington to stop the threats towards "a historically close ally and people."
Earlier, Trump stated that control over Greenland is necessary for the country's security. He noted: "Greenland is surrounded by ships from Russia and China. We need it for defense," said the American president.
