Trump stated that the amount of the lawsuit could range from one to five billion dollars and is likely to be filed next week. "I think it's necessary. They admitted they were deceiving," he added while speaking to reporters aboard his plane.

Despite the BBC's apologies regarding the editing of his speech in the Panorama program, the corporation refused to pay any compensation.

The president also noted that he had not discussed the incident with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer but plans to reach out to him soon. According to Trump, Starmer expressed a desire to discuss the situation and was embarrassed by the events that occurred.

The scandal arose around the documentary "Trump: Second Chance?", which was released on the eve of the 2024 presidential elections. In this film, three excerpts from Trump's speech on January 6, 2021, were edited in such a way that it created the impression of him calling for violence during the Capitol riot.

The White House accused the BBC of spreading "fake news." Trump's lawyers demanded a retraction, an apology, and compensation of one billion dollars. As a result of the scandal, BBC Director General Tim Davie and news division head Deborah Turness resigned.

In his letter to the White House, the head of the BBC Council, Samir Shah, expressed regret over the editing of Trump's speech, adding that the program would not be rebroadcast.
