In his request, Netanyahu calls for the cessation of the corruption trial initiated against him in 2019. The presidential office confirmed that the petition will be considered "seriously and responsibly," reports Ynet.

In the letter, the prime minister states that "the public interest requires the swift conclusion of the judicial process." He also noted that his case has become the subject of active discussions in society, although he has not admitted any guilt.

Not long ago, on November 12, U.S. President Donald Trump also appealed to Isaac Herzog asking to stop the criminal prosecution of Netanyahu. However, in response, the Israeli presidential office stated that an official petition must be submitted to obtain a pardon.

Since 2019, several criminal cases have been ongoing against Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. The Prime Minister of Israel has not admitted guilt in any of the charges, and the judicial process for these cases began in May 2020.
