According to The Guardian, the new duty regime begins daily at 5:00 PM local time. By morning, at 7:00 AM, a report is compiled on the events and statements that occurred overnight, and it is sent to the Danish government as well as the relevant agencies.

The introduction of the "night watch" was a response to the diplomatic crisis that arose between Copenhagen and Washington after Trump's threat to take control of Greenland, an Arctic island, this spring.

Greenland, which is a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark with a population of about 57,000 people, has attracted the attention of the United States due to its rich resources and strategic location in the Arctic. Trump even expressed a desire to purchase Greenland, citing national and international security issues.

According to Fontanka, Trump's proposal was sharply rejected by both the Danish authorities and the Greenlandic government, in whose capital, Nuuk, there is a possibility of holding a referendum on independence from Denmark.
