Buenos Aires has surpassed Moscow in cost of living

As a result of an analysis conducted by RIA Novosti based on open data, it became known that the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, has surpassed Moscow in the cost of living index. This occurred against the backdrop of ongoing double-digit inflation in Argentina.

According to information from the online database Numbeo, the cost of living index in Moscow is 47.5, while in Buenos Aires it is 49.2.

It is worth noting that the cost of living in the Russian capital, excluding housing rent, is 3.4% lower than in the Argentine capital, according to the data from this portal.

When analyzing food prices, Numbeo reports that they are 12.5% cheaper in Moscow than in Buenos Aires, and the purchasing power in the Russian capital exceeds that in Argentina by 82.1%. It is also worth mentioning that dining in restaurants in Moscow is 24.2% cheaper.

The only area where Moscow falls behind Buenos Aires is in housing rent: the cost of rent in the Russian capital is 88.1% higher, according to the service.

Numbeo is the largest global online database of the cost of living, formed based on information provided by users.

According to the National Institute of Statistics of Argentina, inflation in the country in November 2025 was 2.5% for the month, and over 11 months reached 27.9%. As a result, annual inflation in Argentina in 2024 slowed compared to 2023, but still remained at 117.8%.
