In Argentina, thousands of tourists have been evacuated due to wildfires

Patagonia, located in the south of Argentina, is facing severe wildfires during the peak tourist season. This is reported by BILD.

The provinces of Chubut, Río Negro, and Santa Cruz are among the most affected: over the past few days, the fire has consumed more than 15,000 hectares of land. Currently, the evacuation has affected about 3,000 tourists.

Ignacio Torres, the governor of Chubut province, described the situation in an interview with Radio Mitre as one of the most serious ecological crises facing the region. He noted that while fires occur annually, this year their spread is happening much faster and is harder to control. "The region is experiencing the worst drought since 1965," he added.

More than 500 firefighters and police officers are involved in combating the fire, and aviation resources are also being utilized. It is known that one firefighter sustained serious burns and was hospitalized.

As of now, the causes of these wildfires, which have been ongoing for a week, remain unknown.
