As a result of the flooding in Vietnam, the death toll has reached sixteen people, with five more individuals reported missing, according to Vietnam News, citing data from the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The province of Khanh Hoa, located in the southern central part of Vietnam, was the hardest hit, accounting for eleven of the sixteen victims. On Thursday, local authorities declared a state of emergency due to the catastrophic consequences of the flooding and landslides. In assistance to those affected, the Minister of Defense allocated two MI-171 helicopters for search and rescue operations.

According to available data, over forty-three thousand homes were submerged, and more than half a million households faced power outages. The flooding also caused significant damage to Vietnam's economy: over ten thousand hectares of rice and other grain crops were affected, and around 6,500 head of livestock and poultry were swept away or perished. Infrastructure also suffered serious losses: forty-seven cases of flooding on federal highways were recorded, and vital transport arteries such as the Prenn and Mimosa passes were damaged due to landslides. In some provinces, local authorities decided to close educational institutions or switch to remote learning.
