According to meteorological data, 183 liters of precipitation fell per square meter in just one day, significantly exceeding the average monthly figure of 131 liters. Wind speeds during the storm reached 195 km/h. Forecasts indicate that the typhoon may reach Thailand and Vietnam this coming weekend, where at least 40 people have already died from flooding.

“I have lived here for 28 years, but I have never seen such a terrifying storm. The water rose very quickly. By four in the morning, the situation was out of control — people could not escape from their homes,” shares his experiences a resident of Don del Rosario, who saved himself by going to the upper floor of his house.

Authorities managed to evacuate about 400,000 people before the flooding began, which may have helped avoid a higher number of casualties.
