Seven climbers died in Nepal due to an avalanche

As a result of an avalanche on one of the mountain peaks of the Himalayas in northeastern Nepal, seven climbers died, including five foreigners and two locals. This was reported by the BBC.

The tragic incident occurred on Monday at 09:00 local time (03:15 GMT) near the base camp on Mount Yalung Ri, located in the Dolakha district.

Rescue teams have already found two bodies and continue searching for the remaining five climbers, who are presumed to be buried under the snow. Eight people have been rescued and are currently receiving medical assistance in Nepal's capital, Kathmandu.

All the deceased were part of a group that began their ascent just an hour before the avalanche struck, according to the head of the local police in Nepal.

According to Mingma Sherpa, head of the expedition agency Seven Summit Treks, "the bodies of the other five deceased may be located at a depth of 3 to 4.5 meters under the snow." He believes that the search may take a significant amount of time. Among the victims are two Italians, a Canadian, a German, a Frenchman, and two Nepali guides.
