The Vice President of Iran and head of the Environmental Protection Organization, Shina Ansari, reported the need for international assistance in combating the wildfires raging in the north of the country. The fires, which have engulfed the forests of Elit in Mazandaran, have been ongoing for several days and pose a threat of spreading.

According to Ansari, the authorities in Tehran have already begun negotiations with foreign partners to obtain additional support. On Saturday, two planes and a helicopter are scheduled to be sent to the affected region to extinguish the fire. Mohammad Reza Aref, the First Vice President of Iran, has instructed the mobilization of all available resources to fight the flames. The Ministry of Defense has also dispatched three helicopters to assist in localizing and extinguishing the fires, according to the IRNA agency.

Despite the efforts of firefighters, the flames continue to flare up due to strong winds. It was previously reported that the Hyrcanian forests in the Chalus district had been temporarily contained, but the fire has resumed.

Additionally, in recent weeks, Iran has faced a severe water shortage, the most acute in decades. The water level in Tehran's reservoirs has reached a historic low, and authorities are warning of possible nighttime water supply outages.
