Ali Abdolalizadeh also noted that the foundation of the final plan is the solution to the ecological and water issues of Tehran using modern technologies and resource management within the city itself.

He added that the grand project for transferring water from the Persian Gulf to Tehran, which spans a thousand kilometers, has been implemented by local specialists and is currently the only reliable source of water supply for the capital.

Tehran has at least five major dams that are critically important for providing drinking water, and all of them are in a deplorable state. In this regard, starting from November 9, water pressure will be reduced during nighttime. President Masoud Pezeshkin even mentioned the possibility of evacuating residents of Tehran if it becomes necessary to relocate the capital to the coast of the Persian Gulf.

The shortage of water supplies in reservoirs is exacerbated by the most severe drought in the last 60 years and the abnormal heat that Iran faced last summer. Experts believe that the main reasons for the problem are ineffective management of water resources and insufficient agricultural productivity.
