Elon Musk, the well-known American entrepreneur, has sued OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, demanding a refund of between $79 billion and $134 billion. He claims that his $38 million investment in 2015 during the company's founding gives him the right to a share of its revenues, as OpenAI's valuation has significantly increased since then. This information was published by Bloomberg based on court documents.

According to the publication, Musk's lawyers assert that OpenAI deceived him by not paying the due revenues.

Musk's attorney, Steven Molo, noted: "The illegally obtained profits earned by OpenAI and Microsoft, which Mr. Musk is now owed, far exceed his initial investments."

In response to the lawsuit, OpenAI characterized it as baseless, claiming that Musk is conducting a "campaign of harassment" against the company.

Bloomberg also reminds that in 2018, Musk left the board of directors of OpenAI due to disagreements. In 2024, he filed a lawsuit stating that the creation of a commercial division and collaboration with Microsoft contradict the original goals of OpenAI, which was initially conceived as a non-profit organization.

Furthermore, in December, OpenAI presented documents that it believes confirm that Musk himself supported the transformation of the company into a commercial entity but later backed out when he was unable to gain control over the organization.
