According to Musk, “I believe that by the end of this year or early next year we will see AI that is smarter than any human. And then, possibly by 2030 or 2031, that is, in five years, AI will be able to surpass the intelligence of all humanity.”
Musk also noted that in the future, the number of robots on Earth could exceed the number of people. He expressed hope that “in an ideal scenario,” AI and robots will assist humans in performing various tasks. “If we imagine billions of humanoid robots, and I think that will be the case, it means that every person on the planet will have their own robot,” he added.
The company Tesla, which Musk manages, is developing humanoid robots called Optimus. These robots are based on self-learning AI and Tesla's autopilot technologies. In December 2023, a new version of the Optimus robots, Gen 2, was presented. Musk stated that Tesla intends to complete the development of a serial prototype of Optimus by February or March 2026.
