Kazakhstan has joined the Council of Peace without the mandatory financial contribution of $1 billion, which is voluntary according to the charter of this organization. This was reported by the press service of Akorda, citing its sources.

In Akorda, it was noted that the decision to join the Council of Peace is the sovereign right of each state.

“From the moment of joining, the country remains in the Council for a period of three years. The voluntary contribution of one billion dollars specified in the Charter is not a requirement for membership. It is a right that can be exercised by the participants. If such a contribution is made within the first year, the state has the opportunity to extend its presence in the Council for a period exceeding three years. Kazakhstan joined the Council of Peace without any financial contributions, which fully complies with the charter conditions,” the press service clarified.

It should be reminded that on January 16, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the creation of the Council of Peace as a new international structure. It was conceived as a mechanism for monitoring compliance with agreements in the Gaza sector, and the UN also supported this initiative. However, it soon became clear that Trump intended to “promote peace” in other conflict regions as well.

On January 22, 19 heads of state signed the Charter of the Council of Peace.
