
Tokayev emphasized the importance of the XXV Winter Olympic Games and the XIV Winter Paralympic Games, which bring together the best athletes from around the world in Italy.
About 40 Kazakhstani athletes will participate in the Olympics, representing 10 different sports. For many of them, this will be their first competition at such a level. On their way to the Winter Olympics, Kazakhstani athletes demonstrated impressive results at international tournaments, winning 17 gold, 31 silver, and 21 bronze medals.
The President expressed hope for the athletes' success at the Paralympic Games, noting that Kazakhstan has already received 10 licenses to participate, and this number may increase before the competitions begin in early March.
Tokayev added that just being part of the Olympic team speaks to the high potential and determination of the athletes to win. He reminded of the great achievements of Kazakhstani athletes at the Winter Olympics, mentioning legends such as Vladimir Smirnov, Lyudmila Prokashova, Elena Krustaleva, Denis Ten, and Yulia Galysheva.
The President noted that the athletes' successes become a source of pride for the entire country, contribute to strengthening national unity, and enhance Kazakhstan's status on the world stage. He emphasized that the achievements of each citizen are the merit of the entire people, and the athletes' successes reflect the country's authority.
Tokayev expressed confidence that the efforts of Kazakhstani athletes will bear fruit and that they will return victorious, adding that the entire nation will support them. The state flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan was presented to members of the national team — Denis Nikish, Ayaulem Amrenova, and Paralympian Yerbol Khamitov.
