In an interview with Axios, Trump stated that the situation in Iran is "uncertain." He emphasized that the United States has deployed a "large armada" in the region, but believes that Tehran wants to start a dialogue.

The president added: "We have a huge armada near Iran. They want to make a deal. I know this. They have called many times. They want to talk."

Earlier this month, Trump, by his own account, nearly ordered strikes on Iranian targets amid the deaths of thousands of protesters, but ultimately decided to postpone that decision and increase military presence while avoiding direct intervention.

Nevertheless, senior officials at the White House have indicated that the scenario of using force is still being considered, despite the fact that protests in Iran have largely been suppressed.

The American aircraft carrier strike group, including the USS Abraham Lincoln, has already arrived in the area of responsibility of the U.S. Central Command. Additionally, F-15 and F-35 fighter jets, refueling aircraft, and air defense systems have been deployed.

According to Axios, there is disagreement among Trump's circle. Some advisors insist that the president adhere to the previously established "red line" and punish Iranian authorities for their repression, while others doubt the effectiveness of bombings and advocate for using regime weakening to achieve an agreement.

American officials emphasize that any potential agreement must include the removal of all enriched uranium from Iran, restrictions on missile programs, cessation of support for proxy forces in the region, and a ban on independent uranium enrichment.

The Iranian news agency IRNA quotes Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei, who stated that the country is ready to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, highlighting Tehran's high defense potential.

It is worth noting that in the summer of 2025, Iranian nuclear facilities were severely damaged as a result of attacks by the U.S. and Israel, and in December of the same year, the country was engulfed in widespread internal unrest. Against this backdrop, Trump has repeatedly threatened harsh measures in the event of executions of protest participants.
