Israel or Russia? NSA recorded a conversation between foreign intelligence and Trump's inner circle

The head of the NSA prohibited sharing intercepted data

Last year, the U.S. National Security Agency recorded an unusual phone call involving representatives of foreign intelligence and a person from President Donald Trump's inner circle. This information was disclosed by the Guardian newspaper, citing a lawyer for a source familiar with the intelligence data.

These details are extremely sensitive and have sparked significant discussion in Washington over the past week. The information was relayed to U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, according to TRT.

The informant's lawyer, Andrew Bakai, claims that Gabbard prohibited NSA employees from disseminating the information further. She provided a paper copy of the intelligence data to the president's administration chief, Suzy Wails.

The day after the meeting with Wails, Gabbard ordered the NSA to refrain from publishing this information. She demanded that the classified details be sent directly to her office. This information was also confirmed by Bakai.

Previously, details of the interaction between Gabbard and the NSA had not been published, and this data was provided directly to the Guardian newspaper.

Initially, Bakai stated that the phone call took place in the spring of 2025, indicating a connection between an individual associated with foreign intelligence and a person close to Trump. He later admitted that he had made a mistake.

"The NSA intercepted a conversation between two members of foreign intelligence involving a person close to the Trump White House," Bakai noted.

He also added that "the NSA does not monitor people without reason."

According to available information, the person from Trump's circle is not a U.S. government official and does not belong to special government employees.

Bakai mentioned that representatives of the intelligence community often seek his legal assistance, relying on his previous experience working in the CIA's Office of Inspector General.

A spokesperson for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence told the Guardian newspaper: "This information is not accurate. All actions taken by Director Gabbard were within her legal authority, and attempts to manipulate classified information undermine the important national security work carried out by outstanding Americans in the intelligence community."
