Starting from the 2027/28 academic year, mandatory education in "zero" classes will be introduced in Uzbekistan. This step was confirmed by a decree from the President of the Republic, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, issued on February 5, according to information published on the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Justice.
The document establishes that groups for one-year school preparation will become the first stage of mandatory general secondary education. Private educational institutions will also be able to enroll children in "zero" classes.
It is important to note that classes in these preparatory groups can be conducted not only by qualified educators but also by final-year students from relevant universities. After completing the course, children will receive an electronic state-standard certificate, and information about their preparation will be included in their general secondary education certificate.
The Ministry of Preschool and School Education has been tasked with updating the curricula for "zero" classes, considering their new mandatory significance in the educational system.
Additionally, according to the presidential decree, a play-based learning approach will be implemented in the preschool education system, based on positive relationships and interaction. In developing the program, specialists will rely on international experience.
From 2026 to 2028, children's educational institutions "Yangi avlod" ("New Generation") will be established in Karakalpakstan, as well as in regional centers and the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. Innovative child development centers will also open here.
These centers will organize thematic play areas appropriate for the age and development of children, covering areas such as creativity, science and mathematics, physical activity, language and imagination, as well as robotics and introductory algorithmics. The educational and developmental process will include simulation situations that foster interest in various professions and promote ecological culture among the children.
