The Roskomnadzor has decided to block the popular platform Roblox among children, citing the presence of extremist materials, calls for illegal actions, and content with LGBT themes. This information was reported by Interfax, referring to the press service of the supervisory authority.
The agency noted that during monitoring of the platform, instances of the dissemination of prohibited content were repeatedly identified, and the built-in moderation system did not always cope with controlling the materials being posted.
Roskomnadzor emphasized that "monitoring of Roblox showed the ineffectiveness of the internal moderation system in ensuring the complete safety of materials appearing on the platform," adding that "in the gaming space, inappropriate content is actively present, which can negatively affect the moral development of children and create prerequisites for unlawful actions." This statement was also made on November 29 by the press service of the RKN.
The RKN reported that "in such virtual rooms and locations, users can become participants in terrorist acts, attack educational institutions, and also engage in gambling."
The agency added that "children on the platform become victims of sexual harassment, are encouraged to engage in immoral actions and violence. Roblox attracts pedophiles who get to know minors in gaming chats and then move on to interactions in real life."
Throughout 2025, Roskomnadzor sent notifications to the Roblox administration requesting the removal of prohibited materials. In July of this year, the RKN reported that the platform had removed three pieces of content deemed unacceptable in Russia.
Roblox, founded in 2006 in the USA, is an online gaming platform that allows users to create their own gaming projects and play games created by others. According to the company, the number of active users on the platform exceeds 150 million per day. Shares of Roblox Corporation have been traded on the New York Stock Exchange since 2021.
