According to the prosecutor's office, an investigation is underway on the platforms of these companies due to the presence of aggressive and pornographic content accessible to minors. In response to a BBC inquiry, AliExpress emphasized that it takes this situation seriously.
The investigation also revealed that cases have been opened against Shein and AliExpress for distributing content related to child pornography. All materials have been forwarded to the Paris Juvenile Affairs Department, which is responsible for protecting children's rights.
Representatives of AliExpress stated that the discovered listings violate their policy and were removed immediately after the information about them became known. "Sellers who violate or circumvent our rules will face penalties," the company added.
On Monday, Shein announced a ban on the sale of all sex dolls on its platform worldwide. Additionally, it stated that it has blocked all accounts of sellers associated with the illegal trade of such products and is increasing oversight on its platform.
The French Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs, and Fraud Control noted that the description and classification of sex dolls leave no doubt about their relation to child pornography.
Problems for Shein have intensified against the backdrop of the opening of their first permanent store in France, scheduled for Wednesday. Protests against the company are taking place at the department store where the new store will be opened.
The company plans to expand its presence by opening new retail locations in cities such as Dijon, Reims, and Angers.
