In Russia, a criminal case has been initiated for the first time in connection with the search for extremist materials on the internet. A protocol was drawn up in Kamensk-Uralsky against 20-year-old Sergey Glukikh, who works in a medical institution. This was reported by the publication It’s My City, citing lawyer Sergey Barsukov.

According to the information, the young man came across materials about the banned groups "Azov" and "Russian Volunteer Corps" while traveling on public transport. The communication operator reported to the FSB that he had familiarized himself with these materials.

Currently, the case has been suspended and sent back to the police to address the identified shortcomings.

This is the first known media case related to the intentional search for extremist materials. The law introducing liability for such actions came into force in the Russian Federation on September 1.
