From February 10 to 14, rain and snow are expected in Tajikistan. In the foothills and valleys, precipitation is forecasted to fall as rain, while mountainous areas will experience rain mixed with snow, and high-altitude regions will see pure snow, according to data from the Republican Agency for Hydrometeorology.
The changes in weather will be caused by a passing western cyclone and atmospheric fronts. Significant snowfall is possible in the mountain passes, and winds may strengthen to 15-20 m/s. This will lead to difficulties in movement on mountain roads due to snow drifts and reduced visibility.
From February 11 to 14, particularly heavy precipitation is expected in some mountainous and foothill areas under republican administration.
On February 12, under the influence of a western anticyclone, air temperature will drop by 2-3 degrees. In the capital, Dushanbe, temperatures are forecasted to range from +11 to +15 degrees over the week.
On sections of the Dushanbe – Chanak road (within 48–74 km, including the areas of Maykhura and Zideh in the Varzob district), as well as in mountainous areas under republican jurisdiction and in the west of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, there is a high probability of avalanches from February 10 to 14.
Due to the worsening weather conditions, residents, especially drivers, are strongly advised to avoid trips to mountainous and avalanche-prone areas unless absolutely necessary.
