At the Munich Security Conference, Macron noted that the conflict in Ukraine will not change Russia's strategy: "We need to establish rules for coexistence to minimize the risk of escalation. Our geographical situation will remain the same," he added, as reported by DW.

The French president characterized the war in Ukraine as the "main challenge" for Europe, noting that it has become a "military failure" for the Russian authorities. He emphasized that the answer to the question of how to end the conflict should not involve concessions, but rather increasing pressure on Moscow.

Macron recalled Russian President Vladimir Putin's speech at the Munich Conference in 2007, emphasizing that Europe rejected the course he proposed then, which similarly happened in response to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

According to the French president, as a result of the war, Russia has found itself in economic isolation, its dependence on China has increased, and serious demographic problems have arisen.

Earlier, Macron mentioned preparations for a possible resumption of dialogue with Vladimir Putin, specifying that this process is taking place with consideration of the opinion of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, although specific timelines have not yet been established.
