According to the investigation, an entrepreneur from the Moscow region, through an intermediary, purchased nine diesel engines in the Kurgan region with the intention of sending them to Kazakhstan. These engines fall under the category of goods requiring export control, and the sender did not have the necessary license and provided false information in the declaration.
The seizure of the engines occurred at the international checkpoint "Petukhovo." A criminal case has been initiated by the Tyumen customs in accordance with Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to the smuggling of dual-use goods, potentially leading to a punishment of up to ten years in prison.
Last week, the FSB also uncovered a channel for smuggling strategically important goods from Japan and South Korea to Primorye, during which significant customs duties evasion was detected. Preliminary damage estimates exceed 1 billion rubles. Two suspects have been taken into custody, while another two are under house arrest.
