According to the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the FSB of Russia, the detainees in the case of the assassination attempt on Lieutenant General Vladimir Alexeev, Lyubomir Korba and Viktor Vasin, have made confessions.
According to the FSB, the suspects acted on the orders of the SBU. In particular, Polish special services were involved in the recruitment of Korba, who became the executor of the assassination, using his son — Lyubosh Korba, born in 1998 and residing in Katowice.
As reported by the FSB, Lyubomir Korba was recruited in August 2025, underwent shooting training at a range in Kyiv, and was moved to Russia via the route "Kyiv — Chișinău — Tbilisi — Moscow".
Ukrainian special services, according to the PRC of the FSB, promised $30,000 for the assassination of General Alexeev.
According to the FSB, Korba was monitoring high-ranking military officials in Moscow. In his confession, he stated that in December 2025, he received an order to eliminate Alexeev. In the Moscow region, he retrieved a PM pistol with a silencer and ammunition from a cache, as well as an electronic key to the entrance where Alexeev lived, provided by Zinaida Serebrytskaya. She lived in the same building as the general and, according to the FSB, "went to Ukraine".
Viktor Vasin, an accomplice in the assassination attempt, according to the FSB, rented an apartment for Korba in Moscow while he was preparing the attack and provided him with public transport tickets. The Russian special service claims that Vasin is a supporter of the international "Anti-Corruption Foundation", participated in protest actions in Moscow, registered on the platforms "Smart Voting" and "Navalny's Headquarters", and published materials on social media against amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation and in support of Sergei Udaltsov, who was convicted of extremist activities.
The assassination attempt on Lieutenant General of the Ministry of Defense of Russia Vladimir Alexeev occurred on February 6 in the morning hours. The general was shot multiple times in the entrance of his home on Volokolamsk Highway in Moscow. As a result, he was hospitalized in serious condition; however, on February 7, it became known that he regained consciousness after surgery. Russian authorities accused Ukraine of organizing the assassination, which was categorically denied by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha.
