Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on Russia's proposal to hold a meeting between him and Vladimir Putin in Moscow, as reported by "RBK-Ukraine".
Zelensky stated that a meeting in Moscow is impossible, just as it is in Kyiv. "I can invite Putin to Kyiv, let him come. I publicly invite him, if he decides to, of course," the president added in response to journalists' questions.
He emphasized that he is open to any formats of meetings at the leader level if they can contribute to ending the conflict.
However, according to him, discussing peace issues in Moscow or Belarus is "simply impossible and absolutely understandable why." In his opinion, these countries are aggressors and partners in military actions against Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin had offered Zelensky a personal meeting in Moscow in the fall of 2025, to which the Ukrainian president also responded with a refusal, suggesting that Putin visit Kyiv instead.
After the trilateral negotiations held on January 23-24, 2026, in Abu Dhabi, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov raised this issue again.
Alexander Lukashenko has also repeatedly expressed his willingness to organize negotiations between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine on Belarusian territory.
