President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the results of the trilateral negotiations with delegations from Russia and the USA, which took place in Abu Dhabi on Friday and Saturday, according to information from the BBC.
At a joint press conference in Vilnius with Gitanas Nausėda, the President of Lithuania, and Karol Navrocki, Zelensky stated that a 20-point plan for ending hostilities, developed by Washington at the end of last year and repeatedly revised, was discussed in the United Arab Emirates.
“There are many problematic issues. They have decreased, but Russia continues to do everything possible to minimize the Ukrainian presence in the east of our country,” emphasized the Ukrainian president.
Zelensky also noted that Ukraine maintains its position regarding territorial issues. “Everyone understands our position. We are fighting for our country and for our lands,” he added.
Furthermore, the President of Ukraine stated that his country expects security guarantees from the USA and Europe, which, according to him, could help determine a specific date for the end of the conflict.
“For us, the main security guarantees are bilateral agreements with the United States. The document is 100% ready, and we are waiting for our partners to determine the date and place of signing,” Zelensky declared.
Earlier, the special representative of the US President, Steve Witkoff, reported that the document on security guarantees is almost ready, but one important point remains to be agreed upon.
Zelensky noted that the United States is striving to find a solution to end the conflict and emphasized that a compromise must be reached by all parties.
“The Americans are working to find a compromise. We support the trilateral format of communication. These are the first steps towards finding a solution. However, for a compromise to be achieved, all parties must be ready for it, including the American side,” he added.
