According to the investigation, on February 6, in one of the residential buildings on Volokolamsk Highway in Moscow, the suspect fired several shots at Alexeev, after which he was hospitalized in one of the medical institutions in the capital.
As a result of the investigation, a Russian citizen, Lyubomir Korba, was detained, and two of his accomplices were identified, one of whom was arrested in Moscow, while the other left the country and went to Ukraine.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the detainees under articles concerning attempted murder and illegal trafficking in firearms.
Since 2011, Alexeev has held the position of First Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia.
The general participated in the Russian operation in Syria and was awarded the title of Hero of Russia in 2017.
In addition, he holds the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 4th class, and the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
