According to the statement, the operations "Hawk Strike" began on December 19, 2025, at the direction of President Donald Trump and were a response to an attack that occurred on December 13, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of American military personnel and a translator.
The Command clarified that the strikes were aimed at destroying ISIS positions throughout Syria. The main objectives of the operation are identified as combating Islamic terrorism, preventing new attacks, and protecting American forces and their partners in the region.
"We remain resolute in our intention to pursue terrorists who threaten the security of the United States," noted representatives of Central Command.
The military also emphasized that the U.S. position remains unchanged: if there is a threat to American servicemen, those responsible will be found and eliminated, regardless of their location.
The military operation was launched after an ISIS attack in the Palmyra area in mid-December, which resulted in the deaths of two American servicemen, one civilian translator, and a Syrian soldier. Donald Trump had previously emphasized that ISIS would face a strong response, adding that the Syrian authorities support U.S. actions.
