The large-scale military operation against the terrorist group "Islamic State" was conducted by the United States and its allies in Syria. This was reported by the Central Command of the U.S. Armed Forces (Centcom).
At the direction of President Donald Trump, the attacks took place on January 10. They were part of an operation called "Hawkeye strike" and were initiated in response to an attack by ISIS on American servicemen on December 13, according to a press release from Centcom.

The command noted that the aim of the strikes was to combat terrorism and protect American and allied forces in the region.

"Our message is clear: if you threaten our military, we will find you and eliminate you, no matter where you hide," emphasized Centcom representatives.

During the operation, over 90 precision munitions were used, targeting more than 35 sites, with the involvement of over 20 aircraft.

As of now, the locations of the strikes and the number of possible casualties remain unknown.
