The court in Fergana sentenced A.A. to three years in prison for participating in a special military operation (SMO) on the side of Russian troops, reports UzNews.uz.
According to the investigation, while on the territory of the Russian Federation, A.A. signed a contract for military service and participated in combat operations in Ukraine, motivated by selfish reasons.
In February 2025, he was detained by Russian police on charges of violating immigration laws. At the same time, A.A. agreed to join the Armed Forces, fearing deportation.
After signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense, he was sent to a military unit in the Voronezh region, where he underwent training, received a rifle, and a military ID.
In March, he was transferred to Ukraine, where he participated in combat operations and sustained a shrapnel wound to his right arm due to the explosion of a cluster munition. After treatment, he continued his service, supplying food to soldiers in the conflict zone.
Last summer, A.A. returned home on leave, where he was summoned to the local internal affairs department. He cooperated with the investigation and confessed to his actions.
The court found him guilty under part 1 of Article 154 ("Mercenarism") of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan and sentenced him to three years of imprisonment. Thus, the participant in the SMO will serve his sentence in a general regime penal colony.
