In February 2023, while in Kazakhstan, Yusupov held a live broadcast on TikTok, during which he made offensive comments about the President of Uzbekistan and his administration. This video quickly went viral, prompting a significant public response.
After this incident, the blogger remained outside the country for a long time, having visited Turkey and Azerbaijan. However, in April 2023, he was detained in Azerbaijan as a result of operational actions.
At the court hearing, Yusupov fully admitted his guilt, expressed public apologies, and stated his remorse. The court classified his actions under part 3 of article 158 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, concerning encroachment on the president, and sentenced him to four years of imprisonment.
It is worth noting that Yusupov had previously encountered legal issues, but at that time the penalties were less severe.
