A blogger was detained in Astana after her offensive comments about children with disabilities sparked a strong public reaction.
According to information from the capital's police department, administrative proceedings have been initiated against this woman.
The agency stated: "In connection with the dissemination of a video on the internet containing obscene and derogatory remarks towards the parents of children with developmental disabilities, administrative proceedings have been initiated. The author of the video has been detained and taken to the police. The collected materials for the petty hooliganism case will be sent to court."
It became known that the blogger claimed in her video that disability, autism, and cancer in children are a "punishment" for the "immoral lifestyle" of their parents. She referred to pseudoscientific and religious theories, making absurd "connections" between illnesses and the behavior of adults.
These statements caused an uproar on social media. Parents of children with health issues called her words derogatory and demanded accountability for spreading dangerous stereotypes.
