In Astana, the former deputy mayor of Almaty was killed

Preliminary reports indicate that a verbal altercation occurred between two acquaintances, which escalated into a physical fight. As a result of the injuries sustained, 56-year-old Yerzhan Babakumarov passed away.
“The suspect has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the murder, and a pre-trial investigation is currently underway,” police representatives stated.
The General Prosecutor's Office confirmed that a pre-trial investigation has been launched.
Yerzhan Babakumarov held various positions in the presidential administration, as well as in the akimat of Almaty and the Service of Central Communications throughout his career.
