The rapper's lawyers filed a petition on December 23, seeking to overturn or significantly reduce the previously issued sentence. In October, Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced 56-year-old Combs to four years and two months in prison.

Combs was found guilty of violating the Mann Act, which prohibits the transportation of individuals across state lines for the purpose of prostitution. The defense argues that the judge exhibited excessive severity, acting as a "thirteenth juror" and allowing the influence of evidence related to episodes for which Combs was acquitted.

According to the lawyers, the sentence was negatively impacted by materials related to charges of racketeering and human trafficking, from which Combs was acquitted by a jury in July.

Currently, Sean Combs is serving his sentence in a federal prison in New Jersey, with his release scheduled for May 2028. The lawyers are asking the appellate court to intervene and either fully acquit the musician or require the trial judge to reduce his sentence.

According to reports, in September, federal prosecutors requested an 11-year prison sentence and a $500,000 fine (240 million tenge) for Combs, demanding at least 135 months of incarceration. On October 3, the rapper was found guilty of transporting individuals for the purpose of engaging in prostitution, which led to his sentencing.

The rapper's arrest occurred in September 2024 after his former partner, singer Cassie Ventura, filed a lawsuit accusing Diddy of years of physical and sexual abuse, as well as attempts to control her life and career. Later, other victims joined these accusations.
