In Pavlodar, a court sentence was handed down to Daulet Shabanbaev, a well-known Kazakh freestyle wrestler and bronze medalist at the Olympic Games, as reported by Tengrinews.kz.

The court found the athlete guilty of violence against law enforcement officers, sentencing him to three years in a medium-security prison.

According to the case materials, the incident occurred in September of this year when a group of three National Guard soldiers stopped Shabanbaev near a café. The reason for the stop was complaints about his aggressive behavior and the noise caused by his state of intoxication.

During the interaction with the patrol officers, the wrestler, according to the investigation, began to insult them and then used physical force, pushing one of the soldiers, kicking the squad leader, and causing harm to two other patrol officers. As a result, he was detained.
