In the Issyk-Kul region, a court sentenced a man who set fire to vehicles on the territory of a hotel complex.

According to data published in the State Register of Judicial Acts, Andrei [name changed V.A.A.] was found guilty of intentionally destroying someone else's property. Living and working at the "Antalya" hotel complex in Cholpon-Ata, after a quarrel with the victim, he left the premises, threatening him.

The investigation established that, harboring personal animosity towards two individuals, he decided to carry out his plan and set fire to the vehicles. At 7:30 PM, he went to a gas station, where he purchased two liters of gasoline, then returned to the hotel at 8:00 PM, climbed over the fence, and, dousing with gasoline, set fire to a 2020 model "SsangYong Rexton" SUV, worth 2 million 275 thousand soms. Not stopping there, he also set fire to another vehicle—a 1995 "Jeep Grand Cherokee," which was completely burned. As a result of the fire, a trailer and a canopy were also damaged, leading to total damages amounting to 2 million 616 thousand soms.

The victim, J.S.M., testified in court that on the day of the incident, he was at home. After going out to the yard, he asked his worker to complete a task and went to rest. Upon returning, he found that the worker was drunk, despite his repeated requests not to consume alcohol. After that, he dismissed him, but Andrei, as he was leaving, threatened him with retribution. When the victim heard the sirens, he ran to the back yard and saw that his vehicles were on fire. He immediately suspected that it was the work of his employee and called the police.

The victim also reported that Andrei was captured on surveillance cameras. He had purchased the vehicle only a month ago and had not yet paid it off, having only given half the amount. All the documents were burned along with the car. At present, the accused has not compensated for the damages.

During the court session, Andrei fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. He explained that he lived in a trailer in the back yard and worked as a laborer, and the victim treated him very poorly. That day, after work, he wanted to rest, but the victim demanded that he clean up. After the quarrel and the threat, he bought gasoline and vodka, drank, and then set fire to the vehicles.

The Issyk-Kul District Court, having reviewed all the case materials, found Andrei guilty under part 3 of Article 216 ("Destruction or damage to someone else's property, causing particularly large damage") and sentenced him to six years of imprisonment in a general regime correctional colony.

Furthermore, the court ordered him to pay the victim the amount of material damages totaling 2 million 616 thousand soms.
