Kazakhstan will punish officers and strengthen control in units due to the deaths of servicemen

The Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan has decided to strengthen control over discipline and educational work in the army in connection with recent tragedies involving servicemen. As part of these measures, the requirements for safety in handling weapons and conducting training sessions have been tightened. All military units have received instructions to conduct commission checks to assess the psychological state of soldiers.

In addition, the responsibility of commanders and sergeants has been increased, and inspections by military police have been organized. A round-the-clock monitoring of personnel has also been introduced, including during off-duty hours.

Furthermore, constant video communication has been organized for soldiers with their families, and unit commanders are required to maintain regular contact with parents through official channels.

As a result of the investigations, disciplinary measures have been applied to the commander of the Regional Command "East," his deputy, and the chief of staff. Additionally, the commander of the military unit and his deputy, as well as the commander of the battalion where the soldier's death occurred, have been relieved of their duties, as reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The ministry expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and emphasized that the command of the Armed Forces recognizes its responsibility for the safety of servicemen.

Cases of servicemen's deaths in the Kazakh army occur regularly, which has been noted multiple times by both public figures and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Last summer, he instructed Defense Minister Dauren Kasanov to intensify efforts to reduce the number of tragic incidents in the armed forces. However, the number of such incidents is not decreasing. For example, in January of this year, three deaths were recorded: on January 23, a conscript soldier died from a gunshot wound while on guard duty in one of the units of the Ust-Kamenogorsk garrison. On January 27, in the Zhambyl region, another conscript soldier received a fatal injury while handling a weapon, and on January 6 in Shymkent, a serviceman of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan died from sudden cardiac arrest.
