During the discussions, the Mongolian delegation emphasized the country's significant potential in the field of renewable energy and expressed a desire to establish closer cooperation with international partners to implement reforms in the energy sector, which is one of the key priorities of the government. Participants also exchanged views on expanding cooperation in the areas of renewable energy, infrastructure, and sustainable financing, as well as on the implementation of specific investment projects.
Dorzhkhand Togmid noted that at the first Mongolia-Europe Investment and Business Forum, which took place in Ulaanbaatar last year, the European Investment Bank signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Mongolia. This agreement provides for financing of up to 1 billion euros to support the country's 'green' transition. As part of this cooperation, the parties are working to attract European companies to projects in the field of renewable energy and modern energy infrastructure.
In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister held meetings with Peter De Roover, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament of Belgium, and Jozef Síkela, European Commissioner for International Partnerships of the European Commission. The parties discussed further development of cooperation between Mongolia and the European Union, as well as with Belgium in areas such as trade, investment, renewable energy, rare earth elements, tourism, and digital infrastructure.
During the meetings, opportunities for joint work with European partners to strengthen Mongolia's energy security were also considered, including the implementation of modern technologies such as battery-based energy storage systems.
