Last Sunday, when the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of independence was celebrated, the Embassy of Mongolia in Kuwait organized a ceremonial reception dedicated to the half-century anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

At the ceremony, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Samih Hayat, noted that the relations between Kuwait and Mongolia have deep historical roots and continue to actively develop. He reported that just two months ago, Kuwait began importing chilled meat from Mongolia, which is produced in accordance with Islamic norms. Additionally, at the beginning of next year, it is planned to start importing live cattle from Mongolia.

As part of efforts to strengthen the partnership, Ambassador Hayat announced preparations for the fourth round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries, scheduled for the first quarter of next year.

He also noted that work is ongoing to organize direct air communication between Kuwait and Mongolia, as well as maritime transport, emphasizing the importance of coordination with local and international carriers for the successful implementation of these initiatives.

Hayat added that Kuwait could become an important hub for the re-export of products from Mongolia to other countries in the Gulf region, considering the application of unified standards, especially regarding halal products, which would simplify access to local markets.

According to him, cooperation between Kuwait and Mongolia goes beyond food security and covers a broader range of areas, including cybersecurity and other fields where closer interaction is expected to develop in the near future.

In his welcoming speech, the Ambassador of Mongolia, Sergen Purve, expressed sincere gratitude to His Highness the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, for their wise leadership in developing bilateral relations. He reported that the export of chilled lamb from Mongolia to Kuwait started in October 2024, and work is currently underway to export beef and live animals, with hopes to commence shipments next month.

In January 2025, the governments of Mongolia and Kuwait signed an agreement on air communication. Currently, both sides are discussing the possibility of opening direct flights, which would significantly improve trade and economic ties, as well as interaction between the peoples.

He also emphasized that there is great potential for Kuwaiti investments in areas such as gold mining, silver, copper, coal, rare earth elements, oil and natural gas exploration, as well as renewable energy and energy infrastructure. Additional areas of cooperation could include urban development, construction, and the creation of "smart cities," as well as the development of logistics infrastructure.

In connection with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the ambassador expressed gratitude to Kuwait for its continued support and confirmed the intention to strengthen the partnership in the coming decades.

At the conclusion of the event, the ambassador presented letters of appreciation to the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, government representatives, and organizations that assisted in organizing this event. Guests were treated to a cultural program from one of Mongolia's leading cultural institutions — the Great National Theatre of Mongolia.

During the event, the Great National Theatre presented traditional musical and dance performances, and the renowned Mongolian opera singer Ayana amazed the audience with her performance, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for the evening.

The event also showcased a collection of both traditional and modern Mongolian fashion by Maralma Batbold, the chief designer of the Precious Fashion House in Mongolia.

The Embassy of Mongolia announced that on December 8, 2025, at 7:00 PM, a full cultural concert will take place at the American University of Kuwait, providing the audience with an opportunity to learn more about the rich artistic heritage of Mongolia.
