The official visit of the President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, to Italy continues.

A meeting took place in Rome between the President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh, and Dr. Qu Dongyu, the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. This information was confirmed by the press service of the President of Mongolia here.

During the negotiations, issues of current cooperation were discussed, as well as the results of joint projects and programs, and upcoming tasks and directions for further work.

President Khurelsukh emphasized the importance of the FAO's contribution to the development of Mongolia's food and agricultural sectors.

In his entry in the organization's guest book, Khurelsukh noted: “It is with great pleasure that I visit the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, which unites the efforts of countries to combat hunger and poverty, as well as to ensure food security worldwide.

I congratulate the team on the 80th anniversary and wish success in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.”

Mongolia, with its nomadic culture and traditions of animal husbandry, seeks to deepen cooperation on issues of pasture management, protection of water and soil resources, enhancing the resilience of food production, and combating the effects of climate change.

We hope for productive cooperation to achieve results that meet global interests and needs within the framework of the initiative “International Year of Rangeland and Pastoralism,” proposed by Mongolia.

May your goals of “Better production, better nutrition, better environment, better life” be fully achieved, so that humanity can live happily in a healthy and safe environment.”

Mongolia became a member of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in 1973. This organization operates in more than 130 countries worldwide, and its representative office was opened in Ulaanbaatar in 2009.

The FAO actively supports the implementation of Mongolia's Sustainable Development Goals until 2030, focusing on food security, improving nutrition, and enhancing the quality of life for rural populations.

Additionally, the organization collaborates with funding partners, academic institutions, civil society representatives, and livestock breeders to enhance agricultural resilience, protect the environment, and conserve biodiversity.
